Lake Wobegon Loyalty Days
Published in Audio Cassette by HighBridge Company (January, 1991)
Average review score:

I hurt myself laughing!I have not heard the whole cassette yet (I will since I plan to order this when I'm finished the review). But I just heard the *Young Lutheran's Guide to the Orchestra* on my Public Broadcasting Station as I pulled into the parking lot of the grocery store. I sat in my car for 25 minutes, totally enthralled, laughing until I hurt at his comments on each orchestral instrument and why each was unappropriate for a Lutheran to play.
My sister drives quite a distance to work and listens to audio tapes in the car. After I enjoy Keillor's tape, I'll give this to her for Christmas--or maybe I'll get one of my own...?

A "must have" for Lake Erie cruisersThis book is an invaluable tool, and something every lake Erie cruiser should own. The aerial photographs are excellent for navigating harbors. Combine this with the chart details, the included Lake Erie chart and GPS waypoints, it may be all a cruiser (powerboat at least) needs. Restaurant, marina and things to do recommendations are exellent.

Lakeland Landscapes
Published in Paperback by Trafalgar Square (01 October, 1998)

Splendid, stunning landscapes, beautiful photographyThe authors have visited one of the loveliest areas of England, the Lakelands, which I understand were popularized by Wordsworth in his poetry. Having been to England but always having missed this area, I am so pleased to have this book. The scenes are gorgeous. The photography is true art, just beautiful.

Stunning Pictures of Great Lakes ShippingTake one look at this book and you know that Eric Hirsimaki really loves and understands Great Lakes ore carriers. I have reviewed thousands of pictures or them. Few have much artistic value. The pictures in this book lovingly capture the great ships of a time that is rapidly slipping away. Some of these pictures are truly breathtaking. Obviously, a lot of people don't know or care about ore boats, but if you have heard the songs of the Huletts, you have to have this book in your collection.

This single mans guide to cooking!I use this book all the time! I can't tell you how many people request recipes from it! It's easy to use and very well written. I love to cook, and find that even the simplest of recipes taste great. I have it sitting on my counter all the time. The big colorful pictures make it easy to see what the recipe should look like. And most of the recipes don't require a lot of fancy ingredients or prep. Many old favorites as well as some new dishes which you will add to your personal collection of "signature" dishes! If you can get your hands on this gem...get it!

Lee Benson's Inside Guide to the Games 2002 Salt Lake City
Published in Paperback by Lee Benson (27 July, 2001)
Average review score:

Great Book! Very resourceful guide.High quality with great information! Includes lots of tips on local restraunts and other things to do during the games. Nice summaries of venues, cities, and sports --- very light-hearted, I didn't feel as though I was reading an 'official' guide. Gives interesting tid-bits and facts regarding the local culture. Wonderful fold-out front and back-covers with map and schedule of events. Small enough to carry in a small bag or fanny pack.
Will definitely take with me as a resource to the Games in Feb 2002!
